Struts anyone?
If you have found a source for replacement of the device that assists in lifting the tail gate, please let me know... I have had quite a few inquiries but have not found a replacement for this device. Thanks and safe travels to all. Jeff
I too am having the same problem on my 01 Solo. Need to replace the gas struts and since they are the bolt on type most places scratch their heads. Would love to know where to get replacement part for it.
I replaced mine on my first Brenderup Baron years back. Got the struts locally. If I remember rightly, we measured the struts on the trailer and got the OEM numbers of them, then went to Advance Auto. Gas struts are just not as uncommon these days as they used to be. This was the advice that we got from Chris Barr himself.
Now what he told us about removing and installing the things was-for heaven's sake, do NOT take both off at the same time. If you do, you'll never get the new ones on. Do one side then the other. I don't remember having any difficulty with the installation so it must have worked.
It is a good idea to replace the struts every so often. Like anything else, they lose their ability to "help" over a period of time and you'll find that ramp getting heavier and heavier. You are getting older, true, but so are those struts! Replace them!!
