  1. Hi Jeff!

Thank you so much for posting your knowledge. It's impossible to get information on Brederups!

I have a question about the flooring of the horse trailer. Our trailer has been sitting for quite sometime because I retired my horse. It doesn't seem to have gotten very wet inside, however we didn't roll up the rubber mats on the floor like we were told to when we bought it. I'm afraid the floor might rot out even though I can't see anything on the surface. It's mostly just a fear I have of the floor giving out for the horse.

So, if there a way to test the flooring or does it not usually get weakened?

Also if the trailer has been sitting for a while what are the main things we should check before using the trailer again?

    Thanks!!
    Vanessa

    1. If it was working when you parked it it will work when you move it. Might be good to grease those three zerks in the maintenance paragraph. Check your tire pressure.

You could test the floor by tapping with a hammer (take out the mats) and see if anything sounds soft or 'dead'. Keep in mind, horses have feet in the front and in the back. Those are the only two places that you really need to be concerned about. and the mats spread out the weight a fair amount.

Let me know what you find and if you need further assistance!

Thanks for asking. Tell friends. and...

      Happy Trails! Jeff

  2. Hi there Jeff.

We are considering a brenderup Royal HB. It is a 2002, two horse. I was thrilled to find this blog. The trailer is four hours away, so before we treck out to look at it, I hoped you might be able to help with some questions:

I have a 17 hh horse. He should fit in this trailer (as the only horse if I take out the stall divider)? The current owner states the height is 7 foot 3 inches and the stall length is 6 feet. Does that sound accurate?
Do you know the empty weight of this trailer?
If the tires need replacing, is that something easy to find?
Do you think it would be reasonable to pull it with an Xterra Nissan (4.0 V6 engine, 290 hp, 260 torque, 115 wheelbase, tow capacity 5000 pounds)

Thank you so much for any help you can provide.

  3. I was considering buying a cover for my trailer for the winter months. Is there anyone you recommend to purchase one from. Also what size would I need for a Brenderup Royal TC?

    Thanks

  4. I have a Baron & bought a cover that held up well thru last winter. Not counting the tongue, your Royal is probably 11'-4" long. Look at the Beverley cover on Valley vet (or ad as ms pet) site...the 10-12ft or 12-14 ft ones should work...they have zippered doors to access your front side. And underneath straps to hold it on. I also roped around to keep it tight, as there was plenty extra length wise, but that helps when getting it on. If I were you I'd order the linger one for that reason.
